Preparations before Rolling Bearing Installation


What are rolling bearings? Rolling bearings are an indispensable part of the industrial field and modern machinery. So what needs to be done before rolling bearings are installed? THB takes you to understand one by one.


(1) Before the bearing is installed, appropriate measuring tools should be used to check the processing quality of the shaft and seat hole and related parts (such as dimensional accuracy, shape accuracy and surface roughness) according to the technical requirements on the design drawings.


(2) If there are bumps, burrs, rust spots or solid particles (such as wear debris, sand, mud) on the assembly surface of the shaft and the seat hole, it will not only make the bearing installation difficult and make the installation position incorrect, but also solid particles falling into the bearing will play a grinding role. When the bearing rotates, it will wear or scratch the working surface of the bearing, so it must be carefully inspected before installation. If the above defects are found, they should be corrected. For example, use an oil file to remove burrs, raised bumps, and rust spots, and polish them with a fine emery cloth, or clean solid particles and dirt.


(3) The assembly surface should be cleaned with clean gasoline, kerosene, toluene or xylene and other solutions. And dry with a clean rag, then apply a thin layer of lubricating oil. This makes the installation operation easier.


(4) Open the bearing package during temporary installation, immerse it in the above-mentioned gasoline and other liquids, and turn it gently by hand. Make sure that the package oil on the surface of the bracket, rolling elements and raceway is thoroughly cleaned.


(5) When cleaning a large number of bearings, first scald with hot oil with a temperature of 90-100 ℃ to melt the package oil. At the same time, dig out all the old oil with a tool that has no sharp edges and no debris, and then scald it for a few minutes, then rinse the oil with kerosene, and finally clean it with gasoline. After cleaning, wear film gloves and place the bearing on a clean cloth or paper on the workbench to dry.


(6) Note that the sealed bearing cannot be cleaned by this method, and the inside of the seal should be kept as it is and cannot be cleaned.
