How to Improve the Reliability of the Main Bearing of the Engine?


There are bearings in most engines. As long as the bearings fail, they will stop running, and the whole work cannot be carried out. If you want to improve the reliability of the engine, you need to start with the bearings. Next, we will give you a detailed introduction about the improvement. There are five measures for the reliability of engine bearings as follows.


Ⅰ. Improve processing accuracy of bearing


The machining accuracy of each element of the bearing should not be lower than the accuracy of class 4. Besides, please select the reasonable clearance and the matching value during assembly. When assembling, check the bearings according to the content specified in the special technical conditions. For example, for the appearance inspection, you should check whether there are surface defects and rust beyond the specified, review the size of the fit and the original clearance, etc.


Ⅱ. The deflection between the bearing ring and the axis should not be too large


For long-life bearings to have high reliability, the deflection of the bearing ring and axis under working conditions cannot exceed the allowable standard that the service life of the bearing is greater than 1000h, and the amount of deflection shall not exceed 0.5′.


Ⅲ. Use ball bearings with 3-point contact


Replacing a 4-point contact ball bearing with a 3-point radial thrust ball bearing can improve the reliability of the bearing.


Ⅳ. Steel cage


One can use a steel cage to replace the bronze cage, which is mostly used in Russian engines. And the surface of the cage should be silver-plated.


Ⅴ. The temperature difference between the inner and outer rings should be less than 5℃


If the heat of the bearing can be effectively taken away and kept in the width of the bearing and there is a more uniform temperature field between the outer ring, and the temperature difference between the inner and outer rings is not more than 5℃, the reliability of the bearing can be improved.
