Ball Bearing Track Roller Disassembly Method and Precautions

Ball Bearing Track Roller Disassembly Method and Precautions

Deep groove ball bearing is one of the ball bearing track rollers. It is simple in structure and easy to use. It is the most widely used and largest type of bearing. There are three main assembly methods for this type of bearings, namely the knocking method, the press-in method, and the temperature difference method. No matter which of the above methods is used, the assembly environment must be kept clean during installation, and polyester gloves should be worn; Simultaneously press the inner and outer rings at the same time" principle. After installation, the manual rotation of the bearing must be smooth without a sense of blockage.

Ⅰ. Installation method of ball bearing track roller

1. Percussion method

When the interference of the shaft hole is small and there is no special sleeve, the inner ring (or outer ring) of the bearing can be symmetrically knocked in with a steel rod, or it can be knocked in with a hammer by assembling the sleeve. But do not hit the bearing directly with a metal rod or hammer. When tapping, it should be tapped symmetrically and evenly around, so as to avoid the ball bearing track roller from tilting due to excessive force or concentrated tapping.

2. Press-in method

When the fit interference of the shaft hole is too large and it is assembled in batches, the bearing can be pressed in with a press and a sleeve to save time and improve efficiency.

3. Temperature difference method

When the shaft hole fits a large amount of interference, the principle of "thermal expansion and cold contraction" of the object can be used, and the temperature difference method can be used for assembly, that is, the bearing is heated or the shaft is cooled. Heating methods generally include induction heating or oil bath heating, and liquid nitrogen or dry ice is used for cooling. When using the temperature difference method to assemble bearings, it is necessary to strictly follow the use specifications and requirements formulated by the process department in the factory, and be careful not to injure people or property.

1. Percussion method

This method is simple and easy to implement, but it is easy to damage the shaft and bearing, so be careful when disassembling. When disassembling, use a copper rod or other soft metal material smaller than the inner diameter of the ball bearing track roller to hold the shaft end, and add a pad to the lower part of the bearing (the pad should be able to hold the inner and outer rings of the bearing at the same time) and lightly tap with a hammer, or use a soft The metal punch is symmetrically and evenly impacted towards the shaft end along the end face of the inner ring of the bearing. It should be noted that this method does not allow direct hammering.

2. Pull out method

Pull the bearing out with a pull rod remover (also known as a puller). When disassembling the equipment bearing, firmly clamp the rod claw on the end face of the inner ring of the bearing, turn the screw lightly, check whether the remover is skewed, and then tighten the screw and increase the force to pull the bearing out.

3. Push method

Push with a mechanical or hydraulic press. Or push it manually with the help of special tools. A properly modified jack can also be substituted. When removing, place a washer that is divided in half under the bearing. Before pressurization, check whether the ball bearing track roller is skewed, and whether the bearing will pop out to hurt people or damage the surface of the shaft when it is pressed out, and then pressurize until the bearing comes out of the shaft.

4. Hot dismantling method

The hot disassembly method is used to disassemble the tight-fit ball bearing track rollers in the equipment. Pour engine oil heated to about 100°C on the bearing ring to be disassembled with an oil pot. After the bearing ring is heated and expanded, the bearing can be pulled out with a puller. Before heating, the puller should be installed on the bearing to be removed, and a certain tension should be applied to the bearing, and the shaft should be wrapped with asbestos rope or thin iron plate to prevent the shaft from expanding due to heat, otherwise it will be difficult to disassemble.

Bearing Failure Analysis: Fretting Wear & Cloud-Style Marks Case Study

Bearing failure in food & beverage production lines stems from improper fit selection, not quality defects. THB identified two root causes — fretting wear from loose fit and S-shaped ball motion from shaft deflection — and provided five engineering solutions to restore bearing performance.
